NEW Reassessment Activity
46% of New York's Taxpayers Receive Up-to-date Assessments in 2009, however, Suffolk County's Townships make no changes with the exception of Shelter Island 8yrs ago!
State law requires all properties in each municipality to be assessed fairly based on market value. By adjusting assessments to reflect market value, these municipalities are taking the necessary steps to ensure that property owners are fairly assessed and do not pay more or less than their fair share of taxes. Then why aren't Suffolk's Townships updating Assessments? This lack of change creates a great opportunity for Tax Grievances and homeowners to reduce their property taxes significantly.
9/27/2012 - For all townships in Suffolk County we have received the decisions from our grievance applications filed in May and if you were granted a reduction, you have been notifed. If not, and your case has been determined as eligible to take to Small Claims Court, we have notifed you and filed all necessary appeal paperwork with the appropriate offices. When we receive notice that a hearing has been scheduled for your property, we will notify you via mail. It typically takes 1-12 months to receive a court date.
Please be assured that when there is an update in your case, you will be notified.
